The Underbelly Project, NYC
Last year I was involved with a project that has gotten a lot of attention since its recent public launch. The brainchild of street artists Workhorse and PAC, The Underbelly Project took place in an abandoned subway station somewhere underneath New York City, a space that had previously sat untouched for many years.
Here are some pictures of my contribution to the project. It was an amazing experience and I’m very thankful to have been involved. The full website will be online soon, til then you can read the New York Times article here for a good writeup with photos and video. Access to the full article text is free but you have to register for an account first to view it. Luna Park, Wallkandy and Vandalog have also posted pictures taken during their trips underground. The London Sunday Times also ran an article about Underbelly but it was available to paid subscribers only. Luckily for all of us without paid subscriptions, Nuart posted the full text on their blog.

Your work in this project intrigued me when I saw the photos. Alas, I’ll never see the space itself. Here’s a post on this gallery I’ll never see:

I’m so impressed by this whole project, I am both delighted and saddened by the fact I’ll likely never see this in person.
